  3. By using the following Windows 3.1 Driver Library
  4. (the "Software"), you are hereby agreeing to the
  5. included license agreement.  Please review the
  6. file LICENSE.TXT.

  8. The PC Speaker driver may not produce high quality
  9. sound on all computer systems.  The performance
  10. of the PC Speaker driver is largely dependent upon
  11. the hardware itself.  Microsoft does not guarantee
  12. that the speaker driver will work with all
  13. computer systems.
  14.  
  15. "Enable interrupts during playback" Setup Option
  16. ------------------------------------------------
  17. By default, the PC Speaker driver disables all 
  18. interrupts while playing sounds for optimal sound 
  19. quality.  As a result, you will noticed that the 
  20. mouse cursor, keyboard or other processes will not 
  21. respond while sounds are being played through the 
  22. PC Speaker.  You can set PC Speaker to enable 
  23. interrupts for serial port activity and mouse 
  24. movements in the PC Speaker setup dialog, at the 
  25. expense of sound quality.

  27. To set this option:
  28.     - Run Control Panel
  29.     - Open the Drivers icon
  30.     - Select the Sound Driver for PC Speaker from
  31.       the list of Installed Drivers
  32.     - Choose Setup
  33.     - Select or clear the Enable interrupts during
  34.       playback check box.

  36. Note: It may be necessary to select option when 
  37. running some communication applications.

  40. Using the PC Speaker driver with AST systems
  41. --------------------------------------------
  42. If you experience problems using the PC Speaker 
  43. driver on an AST system, you should contact AST 
  44. Technical Support at 1-800-727-1278.

  46. Using Media Player with the PC Speaker driver
  47. ---------------------------------------------
  48. The version of Media Player provided with Windows
  49. 3.1 does not play *.WAV files with the PC Speaker
  50. driver.  To play *.WAV files, you should use Sound
  51. Recorder.  Windows 3.1 will install the Sound
  52. Recorder icon in your Accessories Program Manager
  53. group.

  62. 1.     GRANT OF LICENSE.  Microsoft grants to you the right
  63.         to use and to reproduce and distribute all or a 
  64.         portion of the Windows Driver Library  ("Software") 
  65.         provided that (i) the Software is not distributed 
  66.         for profit; (ii) the Software is used only in 
  67.         conjunction with licensed copies of  Microsoft Windows 
  68.         3.xx products; (iii) the Software may NOT be modified; 
  69.         (iv) all copyright notices are maintained on the 
  70.         Software; and (v) the licensee/end user agrees to be
  71.         bound by the terms of this Agreement.

  73. 2.    COPYRIGHT.  The Software is owned by Microsoft or its
  74.         suppliers and is protected by United States copyright
  75.         laws and international treaty provisions. You may not 
  76.         remove the copyright notice from any copy of the 
  77.         Software or any copy of the written materials, if any, 
  78.         accompanying the Software.

  80. 3.    OTHER RESTRICTIONS.  This Microsoft License Agreement
  81.         is your proof of license to exercise the rights granted
  82.         herein and must be retained by you.  You may not rent
  83.         or lease the Software.  You may not reverse engineer, 
  84.         decompile or disassemble the Software.

  86.     NO WARRANTY.  ANY USE BY YOU OF THE SOFTWARE IS AT YOUR
  87.         OWN RISK.  THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED FOR USE ONLY WITH 
  88.         MICROSOFT WINDOWS 3.XX AND RELATED SOFTWARE.  THE 
  89.         SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED FOR USE "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY 
  90.         OF ANY KIND.  TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, 
  91.         MICROSOFT AND ITS SUPPLIERS DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES 
  92.         OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, 
  93.         WITHOUT LIMITATION, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF 
  94.         MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. 
  95.         MICROSOFT IS NOT OBLIGATED TO PROVIDE ANY UPDATES TO 
  96.         THE SOFTWARE.

  98.     NO LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.  In no event 
  99.         shall Microsoft or its suppliers be liable for any 
  100.         damages whatsoever (including, without limitation, 
  101.         incidental, direct, indirect special and 
  102.         consequential damages, damages for loss of business 
  103.         profits, business interruption, loss of business 
  104.         information, or other pecuniary loss) arising out 
  105.         of the use or inability to use this Microsoft 
  106.         product, even if Microsoft has been advised of the 
  107.         possibility of such damages.  Because some states/
  108.         countries do not allow the exclusion or limitation 
  109.         of liability for consequential or incidental damages,
  110.         the above limitation may not apply to you.

  112.     INDEMNIFICATION BY YOU.  If you distribute the 
  113.         Software in violation of this Agreement, you agree 
  114.         to indemnify, hold harmless and defend Microsoft and 
  115.         its suppliers from and against any claims or lawsuits, 
  116.         including attorney's fees that arise or result from 
  117.         the use or distribution of the Software in violation 
  118.         of this Agreement.

  120. U.S. GOVERNMENT RESTRICTED RIGHTS
  121.  
  122. The Software and documentation are provided with RESTRICTED 
  123. RIGHTS.  Use, duplication, or disclosure by the Government 
  124. is subject to restrictions as set forth in subparagraph 
  125. (c)(1)(ii) of The Rights in Technical Data and Computer 
  126. Software clause at DFARS 252.227-7013 or subparagraphs 
  127. (c)(1) and (2) of the Commercial Computer Software - 
  128. Restricted Rights at 48 CFR 52.227-19, as applicable.

  132. If you acquired this product in the United States, this 
  133. Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Washington.
